Abduction Mutant Vehicle — Burning Man
A multi-level mutant vehicle taken from first sketch to its Burning Man debut.
Abduction is an alien-themed, multi-level mutant vehicle built by Vita Motus Design Studio. Development began in November 2022 and the vehicle debuted at Burning Man in August 2023.
An art car is a different animal from a festival stage. There is no client production team on the other side of the table: fabrication, engineering, budget, transport, licensing, and crew all sit with the same small group, and the deadline is set by the event rather than negotiated.
The creative-producer and project-manager seat here ran wider than the festival work, carrying executive-producing responsibility across the build — vendor sourcing and negotiation, budgets, creative-production oversight, and the Burning Man licensing and application — as the project moved from development to its debut.
